CIMA WT: INTRODUCTION

INTRODUCTION

CimaWT is an application designed for world travelers who carry their Palm-connected devices wherever their travels may take them. It is also a useful application for anyone who may have an interest in having general information about countries, cities, and currencies around the world, or to convert measurements from one unit to another.

CimaWT combines the features described below (in "Navigating") in a single easy-to-use, friendly, and visually appealing application.

While CimaWT is best appreciated on color units, it will work with any Palm-connected device with Palm OS 3.0 or later.

NAVIGATING IN CIMA WT

As mentioned above, CimaWT combines five functions that may be useful for the typical world traveler. These five functions are selected by tapping the associated icon which will always be found at the bottom of the screen.

Additionally, online help is always available to the user by tapping on the '?' symbol in the upper right-hand corner of the main screens, or tapping on the 'i' symbol in the upper right-hand corner of the pop-up screens.

World Database: This function of CimaWT gives the user extensive information concerning every country in the world. Information includes such data as capital, population, country code, Internet code, currency, geographical area, and GDP per capita. Additionally, the user may look up Travel Advisories that have been issued by the U.S. State Department (if the accompanying Travel Advisory database is installed).
City Database: This function of CimaWT provides the user with general information about a large number of cities worldwide. Information available on each city includes population, location (latitude/longitude), elevation, information regarding whether or not daylight savings time is currently being observed, and any area or city codes necessary for dialing the city. Sunrise/sunset for the city is also available if the program has been purchased and the MathLib.Prc module has been installed.
Currency Conversion: The Currency Conversion module of CimaWT provides the user with a quick and easy-to-use way of converting between one or more currencies. The Currency Conversion page allows the user to quickly convert to their home currency and six additional currencies. The user may convert between additional world currencies by tapping on the 'Quick Exchange' button.
World Clock: The World Clock feature of CimaWT allows the user to see, at a glance, the current time in his or her home city and in up to six additional cities worldwide. The display automatically takes into account daylight savings time that may be in affect in each city, time zones, etc. The user may select how the clock displays the information for each city: 12-hour mode, 24-hour mode, UTC offse, or as a difference in the time from the home city.
Measurement Conversion: The Measurement Conversion page is a practical and easy-to-use way of converting between some of the world's most common measurement units. This module allows the user to quickly convert between miles/kilometers, kilograms/pounds, celsius/Fahrenheit, etc.
